MINUTES OF CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB

·    Summer Fees

 

Crystal Badminton club will need to increase the membership fees to cover the increase in court fees imposed by Crystal Sports centre. Fees are outlined below:

Summer Season starts 5th May and ends 25th August.

Adults £36

Juniors £26

Visitors fees will also increase from the current fee of £3 for adults and £2 for Juniors and for those on Job Seekers allowance.

to Adults £3.50, Juniors £2.50.

 

Please ensure that payment is made promptly.

as a £10 surcharge will added to the above if not paid by the last Monday in May 26th.

Note:

Members paying cash should enclose their payment in a sealed envelope clearly marked with their name.

Members paying by cheque may post-date their cheques to 1-June-08, and should write their name on the back,

if different from the account name.

 

·    Members

 

It was decided to automatically register all members and some (non members) with the league, to ensure that they maybe eligible to play league matches, if required to fill in at short notice.

This to be started for next season 2008/9.

 

·    Match Attendance

 

Again this was discussed, as it has continued to be a struggle for all captains this season to be able to pick a full and consistent team for the league matches this season,  recap on last meeting decision:

 

So it has been decided and to be voted on at another committee meeting, that for next season, the teams would be selected before Mel has to go to the League fixture meeting, Giving Mel the opportunity to better plan the matches so that Mens and Mixed for example would not be played on the same night.

Also we would like to go back to a selection committee to decide who is to play in which team. Chris suggested the basis for the team selection should / could be made from those who played this season, and making sure that everyone who wants to play is canvassed before the meeting.

It was also suggested the Master matches be organized at the same meeting,  Pete to propose to League Committee at next meeting.

 

·    Mop for the floor

 

 There has been no improvement from the centre of Court set up or cleaning the floor.

Reg does a great job of wiping the floor with a damp towel before the games start,

So we are to ask the Centre to provide a a full size brush / cleaning mop for us to use on a club or match night.

 

·    New Scoring System

 

The new Rally scoring system is to be introduced to the Cradley league start of next season.

It was decided to play best of 3 games to 15 points, clarification to be made on the setting id scores tied at 14 all.

The Crystal Badminton club will also adopt the system, But we will play one game to 21.

Setting to be at 20 all, and the first to 2 clear point up to 29 is the winner, if it is still tied at 29 all, the next point will win.

This system will be introduced during the Summer season to ensure that those playing league will be full comfortable in the scoring system.
